Srinagar: A man from West Bengal was arrested with a pistol in Regal Chowk area of Srinagar on Thursday, Srinagar police said.
The accused has been identifed as Lokesh Kumar of Alipurdauar (West Bengal) and currently residing in Elahibagh Soura area of the city. He ws caught by a joint team of armed forces at a checkpoint today early morning.
He had stolen the pistol same night from the house of a registered license holder, police said.
Police have registered a case against him under first information report (FIR) no 31/2023 at police station (PS) Kothibagh.
Taking to X, earlier known as Twitter, Srinagar police wrote: “One person namely Lokesh Kumar of Alipurdauar West bengal a/p Elahibagh Soura caught with pistol on a joint naka at Regal chowk in wee hours. He had stolen this pistol same night from the house of a registered license holder. FIR 31/2023 registered at PS Kothibagh.”
