On Friday morning at the Turkish House in New York, an unidentified individual tossed a copy of the Quran, the sacred book of Muslims, onto the ground and proceeded to kick it. This act of desecration occurred at 10:46 a.m. local time (1446 GMT), as reported by Anadolu.

Security personnel from the Turkish House promptly responded by exiting the building, intervening, and escorting the individual off the premises. It’s worth noting that the Turkish House houses Türkiye’s Consulate General and UN mission.

Authorities, including officials from the New York Police Department (NYPD) and the Diplomatic Security Unit (DSS), were promptly notified about the incident.

A video circulating on social media captures the moment when a man throws a book onto the ground and proceeds to stomp on it, while exclaiming, “This is a Quran.”

The recent instances of Quran burnings in Sweden and Denmark, supposedly in the name of free speech, have triggered strong protests in Muslim nations, leading to attacks on diplomatic missions.
