31 militants killed in joint ops in Kashmir this year so far: Police

Srinagar: A total of 31 militants have been killed in joint operations in the Kashmir Valley this year so far, police said.

A top police official told the news agency Kashmir News Observer that the joint operations were carried out by Army, Police, SSB, BSF and CRFP at different places in the Kashmir Valley.

He said that this year so far a total of 31 militants have been killed in joint operations.

“One militant was killed in joint operation with Police, Army & SSB, 2 militants were killed in joint ops with Police, Army & BSF, 5 militants were killed in joint ops by Police, Army and CRPF and 23 militants were killed in joint ops by Police and Army,” he said.

Earlier, this month two militants including top commander Uzair Khan was killed during 7-day long operation in Kokernag, in which 3 officers including a DySP, Army Colonel and a Major were also killed.

The official further said that police and other armed forces agencies have been dealing effectively with militancy operatives and in the past few months several militancy modules have been busted across the Valley that have dented support base of militants in the region.
