Militants give slip to forces after brief exchange of fire in Pulwama: Officials

Pulwama: After a brief exchange of fire on Saturday afternoon, militants have managed to give a slip to the armed forces at Parigam village of Newa Hamlet in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said on Saturday.

An official told the news agency Kashmir News Observer that a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF had launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering tghe operation.

He added that after the initial exchange of fire, no contact was established with the hiding militants.

The official said that cordon layers were tightened after the initial exchange of fire; however, the militants managed to give a slip to forces and operation was called off.
