Rajouri military Op: Injured army personnel succumb, toll 3, say officials

Jammu: Two army personnel have succumbed to injuries taking the toll to three, including a Captain, in an ongoing military operation against militants in Kalakote area of Rajouri district, officials said.

They told GNS that two army personnel among three injured in the initial exchange of gunfire have succumbed to their injuries at a hospital.

Earlier, Deputy Inspector General of Police Haseeb Mughal said that operation begun after a team of Jammu and Kashmir police and personnel of Indian Army launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

As the joint team approached towards the suspected area, the hiding militants fired upon the joint party, leading to the operation, the officer added.

The intermittent exchange of gunfire was going on, when this report was being filed.
