In an early Monday incident, a military site in northern Israel became the target of mortar shelling from Lebanon, resulting in injuries to three Israeli forces personnel, as confirmed by the Israeli army.
The attack involved the firing of several mortar shells at the military site in the northern town of Shtula, Anadolu Agency.
Additionally, the town of Yiftah experienced mortar shells directed at an Israeli army position. Responding to the aggression, the Israeli army retaliated by targeting the identified source of the attack.
The heightened tension along the Lebanon-Israel border follows sporadic exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, escalating after the Israeli military’s offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Resuming hostilities, the Israeli army resumed airstrikes on the Gaza Strip early Friday, signalling the end of a week-long humanitarian pause following previous clashes with the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
Earlier, the Palestine government statement said that over 15,00o people were killed in the Israeli bombardment since October 7.
