Hospitals in Gurez face staff shortage, people suffer: RTI

Gurez: Patients in Gurez Medical Block of Bandipora district are suffering due to shortage of staff at several hospitals.

The hospitals, as per news agency Kashmir News Observer, that face staff shortage include CHC Dawar Gurez, PHC Sheikpora Tulial, PHC Badugam, NTPHC Bagtoor, NTPHC Barnal, NTPHC Gujran and MAC Badwan Gurez.

The information was obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) file by MM Shuja.

As per details available with the KNO the posts lying vacant at CHC Dawar include two head pharmacists, one head X-ray technician, one senior x-ray technician, one junior x-ray technician, one head lab technician, one supervisory lab technician, one senior lab technician, one junior lab technician, one head dental technician, one senior opthalmic technician, one junior opthalmic technician, one junior physiotherapist, one junior theatre technician, seven junior grade nurses, one sanitary inspector and one chauffeur.

At PHC Sheikpora, post of supervisory pharmacist and junior assistant are lying vacant while at PHC Badugam posts of community health officer, supervisory pharmacist, health educator and junior assistant are lying vacant and at NPHCs of Bagtoor, Barnal, Gujran and MAC Badwan posts of senior pharmacists are lying vacant.

In addition, one post of consultant gynaecologist, consultant physician and consultant pediatrician are lying vacant while one post of dental surgeon at PHC Sheikpora and PHC Badugam are lying vacant. Besides one post of medical officer is lying vacant at NTPHC Bagtoor, NTPHC Gujran, NTPHC Kilshey, NTPHC Wanpora and NTPHC Kamzalwan.

Locals express concern that the absence of basic healthcare facilities and the shortage of specialist doctors in remote areas are contributing to a significant healthcare crisis. (KNO)
