Four arrested for human trafficking in Budgam: Police

Budgam: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday said that it arrested four persons involved in human trafficking in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

In a statement, a spokesperson said that police Post Soibugh received a call from a source regarding a non-local woman wandering aimlessly in the Arath area seeking help.

“Accordingly a Police team from PP Soibugh was deputed to the said place and recovered the said lady who was subsequently handed over to ‘Sakhi One stop centre Budgam,” reads the statement.

It reads that on enquiry she revealed that she had been fraudulently brought to Kashmir by Zaitoon Bibi, a resident of Kolkata and Bashir Ahmed Mochi of Arath, Budgam.

It added that she further revealed that the persons sold her to one Parvaiz Ahmad Ganiee, son of Gh Mohd Ganiee, a resident of Yall Pattan for Rs 1.30 lakh and forcibly married her to the said person.

“Accordingly, Budgam Police registered a Case FIR No 52/2024 under relevant section of Law at Police Station Budgam and investigation was started.”

“During the course of investigation four persons namely Bashir Ahmad Mochi, son of Ab Rehman Mochi, a resident of Arath Budgam, Gh Hassan Najar, son of Wali Mohd Najar, a resident of Arath Budgam, Parvaiz Ahmad Ganiee, son of Ghulam Mohd Ganiee, a resident of Yall Pattan and Mohd Ramzan Ganiee, son of Abdul Wahab Ganiee, a resident of Hanjibugh Magam were found involved in the trafficking racket and were subsequently arrested. Further investigation is going on,” it reads.
