Schools upto 8th standard closed in Kupwara due to heavy rainfall

Kupwara: In view of the unfavourable weather conditions, authorities on Tuesday said that the educational institutions up to 8th standard shall remain closed in frontier Kupwara district on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner, in a communique said, “All the Institutions both Private and Government upto 8th standard shall remain closed today on 16-04-2024 in view of the heavy rainfall followed by avalanche warning issued by JKDMA inorder to ensure the safety of students.”

In last 24 hours till 8.30am today, Srinagar recorded rainfall of 28.3mm, Qazigund 44.2mm, Pahalgam 39.0mm, Kupwara 28.6mm, Kokernag 28.9mm, Gulmarg 32.8mm, Jammu 87.4mm, Banihal 38.0mm, Batote 40.6mm, Katra 64.0mm, Bhaderwah 27.8mmand Kathua 12.4mm. Many low-lying areas have been waterlogged due to the incessant rainfall, severely affecting normal life in these areas.
