Palestinian civil defence teams have discovered a mass grave within Gaza’s Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, uncovering 180 bodies so far, according to Al Jazeera.

This discovery follows continued Israeli bombardment of the area over the past six months. The grave was found after Israeli military troops withdrew from the city on April 7, leaving much of Khan Younis in ruins after months of intense bombing and fighting.

Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reported on Sunday that the bodies, including elderly women, children, and young men, were recovered from the mass grave in the hospital courtyard. Palestinian emergency services have stated that search and retrieval operations will continue in the coming days to locate more victims.

Earlier this week, a mass grave was also discovered at al-Shifa Hospital following a two-week siege. This hospital, the largest medical facility in Gaza, has seen multiple mass graves uncovered due to the devastating impact of Israel’s ongoing conflict with Gaza.

Israel’s military operations in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of over 34,000 Palestinians, with a significant number of casualties being children and women. However, local health officials believe the true death toll may be higher, as many bodies remain buried beneath rubble or in inaccessible areas.

Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, including in the city of Rafah, continue to cause further devastation, with recent strikes reportedly killing 22 people, including 18 children, Al Jazeera reported.
