The second Iranian university is offering scholarships to students from the US and Europe who were expelled for participating in pro-Palestinian demonstrations on campuses, Press TV reported.
Seyed Mahmoud Aghamiri, the dean of Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, extended this proposal in response to the crackdown on such demonstrators in the US.
This initiative follows a similar offer made by Shiraz University, which was the first academic institution to welcome students and professors facing expulsion or threats in the US.
Aghamiri stated that Shahid Beheshti University is willing to accept students expelled for protesting Zionist actions, providing them with full scholarships covering education, housing, and other related expenses.
The university also offers special support to Palestinian students affected by Israeli aggression.
In the US and Europe, students advocating for a Gaza ceasefire and university divestment from pro-Israeli companies have faced arrest or expulsion.
Pro-Palestinian demonstrations have occurred on at least 30 US university campuses since last month, with participants often setting up tent camps to protest Israeli actions in Gaza. Similar protests have taken place on campuses in Australia, Canada, France, Italy, and the UK.
In the UK specifically, students have set up encampments on campuses demanding divestment from companies involved in the arms trade with Israel.
In Switzerland, around 100 pro-Palestinian students occupied a university building, calling for an academic boycott of Israeli institutions and an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
In the US, a pro-Palestinian protest at the University of California, Los Angeles was forcefully dispersed by police. Hundreds of helmeted officers swarmed the site, firing flash bangs, arresting demonstrators, and dismantling their encampment.
