Air India Express sacks 25 cabin crew members over mass sick leave

New Delhi: Air India Express has sent termination notices to approximately 25 cabin crew members who called in sick, resulting in the cancellation of over 90 flights, according to airline on Thursday.

Additionally, the Tata Group-owned airline has warned the remaining cabin crew who are on sick leave to return to duty by 4 pm on Thursday or risk termination, PTI reported quoting sources.

The sources further mentioned that Air India Express has canceled approximately 60 flights for Thursday due to insufficient cabin crew availability. They noted that a significant number of cabin crew taking sick leave has caused significant inconvenience to passengers.

The airline employs approximately 1,400 cabin crew, including roughly 500 senior-level members.

Starting from Tuesday night, more than 200 cabin crew members began reporting sick to protest against alleged mismanagement within the airline, which led to the cancellation of over 90 flights.
