President Ebrahim Raisi’s death: Omar, Mehbooba offer condolences

Srinagar: Reacting to the death of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, who died in a helicopter crash on Monday, former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have expressed condolences.

The aircraft, which went down in northern Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, had a total of nine people on board, including a provincial governor. All are believed to have perished in the crash.

As the nation mourns this immense loss, global leaders have expressed their condolences and solidarity with Iran.

“Deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic passing of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir in a helicopter crash. My heartfelt condolences go out to their families and the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Allah Magfirat farmaye!” Omar Abdullah wrote on twitter.

Mehbooba Mufti tweeted, “My deepest condolences to the people of Iran who mourn the tragic passing away of their President Ebrahim Raisi. Shocking & quite baffling.”
