New Delhi: Asaduddin Owaisi’s declaration of “Jai Palestine” during his parliamentary oath ceremony has stirred considerable political controversy, prompting calls from BJP leaders for his disqualification from Parliament.

Owaisi, a five-time MP from the AIMIM, delivered his oath in Urdu, concluding with the slogans “Jai Bheem, Jai Meem, Jai Telangana, Jai Palestine. Takbeer, Allah-u-Akbar.”

This reference to Palestine, amidst ongoing conflict in the region, sparked immediate backlash from ruling party members.

BJP’s Amit Malviya cited Article 102 of the Indian Constitution, suggesting Owaisi’s actions might warrant disqualification for showing allegiance to a foreign state.
