NIA allows Engineer Rashid’s oath taking with condition, court decision tomorrow

Engineer Rashid, who is currently imprisoned in Tihar jail.

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has granted consent to independent MP Engineer Rashid to take his oath in Parliament on July 5, following his exclusion from the initial oath-taking ceremony in the 18th Lok Sabha. This permission is conditional, stipulating that Rashid refrains from interacting with the media.

Engineer Rashid, also known as Abdul Rashid Sheikh, had earlier sought interim bail or custody parole to fulfill his parliamentary duties. The matter now rests with the Patiala House Court, which is scheduled to deliver its decision on July 2 regarding Rashid’s request.

The court’s ruling will determine whether Rashid will be able to participate in the upcoming parliamentary session as planned.
