Kulgam: A military operation against militants started in Chinnigam village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday, officials said.
“Contact established at Frisal Chinnigam area in Kulgam district. Police and security forces are on job. Further details shall follow,” police tweeted.
An official said that a joint team of armed forces launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint teams approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated to, triggering the operation.
This operation broke out just hours after another anti-militant operation in Modergam village of the district where reportedly one army man has been injured and the operation is underway.
