The Uttar Pradesh government has issued an advisory prohibiting the display of weapons during the Kanwar Yatra.
DJs and religious songs will be played within acceptable limits throughout the month-long event, which runs from July 22 to August 19.
DGP Prashant Kumar announced changes to the traffic system for the Yatra, including a ban on heavy vehicle entry on the routes starting from midnight on July 21 for the Delhi Expressway, Dehradun Expressway, and Chaudhary Charan Singh Kanwar Marg.
Kanwariyas are advised not to carry weapons such as spears and tridents. While DJs are allowed on the Kanwar Yatra route, the sound must adhere to Supreme Court regulations.
Liquor and meat shops along the Yatra routes will be closed, and local authorities are tasked with ensuring that stray animals do not enter the Yatra paths. The event will be monitored with CCTVs and drones.
Normal traffic on Ayodhya-Basti Road will be restricted, with only ambulances and emergency vehicles permitted due to the large number of devotees. Additionally, police are coordinating with registered organizations and devotees setting up roadside camps to provide food, water, and lodging to participants.
