Modi holds roadshow in Varanasi ahead of IAF’s ‘Wings Over Ganges’ aerial display

Narendra Modi holds a roadshow in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, Gujarat on October 25, 2026.

Varanasi: Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Sunday held a roadshow in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, drawing large crowds of residents and BJP workers who gathered along the streets to welcome him.

Earlier in the day, Modi inaugurated a new garment manufacturing facility of Arvind Limited in Varanasi, highlighting the region’s potential for industrial investment, manufacturing-led growth and women’s empowerment.

The facility is expected to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s textile and apparel sector, generate employment opportunities and enhance the region’s integration into global supply chains. With Arvind Limited catering to international markets, garments produced at the new unit are expected to reach customers overseas.

The initiative also places emphasis on women’s participation in the workforce, with the women-led manufacturing model reflecting a broader focus on women-led development.

Modi’s visit to Varanasi comes as the city prepares to host the Indian Air Force’s aerial display, ‘Wings Over Ganges’, at Namo Ghat as part of the celebrations marking the force’s 94th anniversary.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed the Prime Minister to Varanasi ahead of the event, saying the aerial display would showcase the valour and capabilities of the Indian Air Force.

In a post on X, Singh described Kashi as a symbol of a strong, self-reliant and resurgent India and said the city was set to witness the IAF’s aerial capabilities during the event.

The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team had also taken to the skies over Varanasi ahead of the scheduled display. The Surya Kiran team and the Sarang Helicopter Display Team are among the formations expected to participate.

The programme is scheduled to feature several aircraft, including the Tejas, Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand, IL-76, IL-78, C-295 and AN-32, along with frontline fighter aircraft such as the SU-30MKI and Rafale. Aircraft from the Indian Navy and the Indian Army are also expected to take part, highlighting coordination among the three services.

Modi is scheduled to attend the aerial display as the chief guest during his visit to his parliamentary constituency on October 25.
