New Delhi: Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi paid tribute to the armed forces personnel who died in the 1999 Kargil War, stating that Pakistan has not learned from its defeat and continues to support militants.
“Pakistan has faced defeat in every misadventure and has not learned from history,” Modi remarked at the Kargil War memorial, as reported by NDTV.
Honouring the slain personnel, Modi emphasised that their sacrifice is immortal and will always be remembered through Kargil Vijay Diwas.
On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army announced the successful conclusion of ‘Operation Vijay,’ declaring victory after nearly three months of battle in Kargil, Ladakh.
Earlier today, Modi inaugurated the construction of a tunnel to provide all-weather connectivity between Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. He initiated the “first blast” for the Shinkun La tunnel remotely from Drass, Ladakh.
