Srinagar: Rain has brought relief to Kashmir, alleviating the ongoing heatwave in the region.
According to the Meteorological Department (MeT), light to moderate rains have been recorded in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, with intermittent showers expected to continue over the next few days.
In the past 24 hours, rainfall was reported in several areas: Srinagar received 8.6mm, Qazigund 25.8mm, and Pahalgam 10.1mm. Other regions such as Kupwara, Gulmarg, Jammu, and Bhaderwah also experienced varying amounts of rainfall.
The MeT has forecasted light to moderate rain and occasional heavy spells, especially in Kathua district, through the upcoming days. This weather change comes as a relief from the intense heatwave that had gripped the region recently.
Temperatures have also moderated due to the rain, with Srinagar recording a low of 19.4°C, and other areas like Pahalgam, Kupwara, and Jammu showing similar cooling trends. The rainy weather is expected to continue intermittently, providing much-needed respite from the high temperatures.
