‘Everything is legitimate’: Israeli lawmaker justifies rape and torture of Palestinians

Hanoch Milwidsky, an Israeli lawmaker from the ruling Likud party, stated that “everything is legitimate” when questioned about the justification of raping Palestinian prisoners.

During a meeting, Palestinian lawmaker Ahmad Tibi asked, “Is it legitimate to insert a stick in a person’s rectum?” Milwidsky responded, “Yes! If he is a Nukhba, everything is legitimate to do to him.”

There have been widespread reports of Palestinian prisoners being tortured in Israeli prisons.

The United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (Unrwa) has received reports of mass mistreatment of Palestinians captured from Gaza by Israeli forces.

These reports include detainees being urinated on, made to act like animals, and children being attacked by dogs.

A report released on Palestinian Prisoners’ Day in April highlighted that physical, sexual, and psychological abuse is routine for thousands of prisoners detained by the Israeli army. “This included being beaten while lying on a thin mattress on rubble for hours without food, water, or access to a toilet, with legs and hands bound with plastic ties.

Several detainees reported being forced into cages and attacked by dogs. Some released detainees, including a child, had dog bite wounds on their bodies,” the report read.

At least 37 more Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, bringing the overall death toll to 39,400 since last October 7, the Health Ministry in the battered enclave said on Tuesday, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

A ministry statement added that some 90,996 others have been injured in the assault. “Israeli forces killed 37 people and injured 73 others in three ‘massacres’ against families in the last 24 hours,” the ministry said.

“Many people are still trapped under rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.

Flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire, Israel has faced international condemnation amid its continued brutal offensive.

Over nine months into the Israeli war, vast tracts of Gaza lie in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which ordered Tel Aviv to immediately halt its military operation in the southern city of Rafah, where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge from the war before it was invaded on May 6.
