Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it have cracked a blind murder case by arresting four people in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement, the police said that on August 2, 2024, the police post Palhallan received information about an unknown dead body found under the Khambiyar-Andergam bridge. The body was later identified as that of Nasir Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Pousnag Kreeri.
The police carried out a sustained interrogation, examination of evidences and analysis of technical data and succeeded in identifying four accused namely, Ghulam Mohiuddin Ganie, son of Late Ghulam Nabi, Fatima Begum wife of Ghulam Mohiuddin Ganie, Rubeena Bano daughter of Ghula Mohiuddin Ganie and Aadil Ahmad Ganie son, of Ghulam Mohiuddin, all residents of Gundbal Pattan, District Baramulla.
The police spokesman further stated that the investigation revealed that the accused hatched a conspiracy to kill the deceased on August 1, 2024. They strangulated him to death using a dupatta and later disposed off the body under the bridge.
The accused have been arrested and are currently under police custody. The police team has also recovered the weapon of offence (dupatta) and other vital evidence. Further investigation is under process in the instant case, reads the statement.
