Srinagar: A man was found unconscious outside a wine shop in Srinagar, raising serious concerns among local residents about public safety and the broader social issues associated with alcohol consumption. The incident took place in a busy area of the city, prompting a swift response from both authorities and the community.

As seen in the video shared by climate and RTI activist Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat on X, the man was discovered lying motionless on the pavement near the entrance of the wine shop. Initially, passersby assumed he was merely sleeping, but as time passed and he remained unresponsive, concerned citizens alerted the authorities.

In his post, he said, “This is a public place in our Srinagar Smart City? Keep religion apart, do you think it is advisable to have a liquor shop in such a place? Why isn’t this part of election manifestos of our political parties?”

The situation has sparked a wider debate on social media and within the community. Many users have called for a reassessment of the location of such establishments and urged political leaders to address the issue in their future election campaigns.
