New Delhi: A 16-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by three of his friends in Shakarpur, East Delhi, after he declined to treat them following his purchase of a new phone, PTI reported quoting police on Tuesday.
Authorities stated that the three juveniles, all aged 16 and classmates in the ninth grade, have been taken into custody in connection with the incident, the report said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Apoorva Gupta revealed that a patrol team discovered bloodstains on a street near the Ramji Samosa shop around 7:15 pm on Monday and initiated an inquiry. Local residents informed officers that a boy had been stabbed and was taken to LNJP Hospital.
The victim, identified as Sachin, also 16 and a local resident, was pronounced dead about an hour later due to two stab wounds found on his back.
According to Gupta, the investigation revealed that Sachin and one of his friends were returning home after buying a mobile phone when they encountered the three suspects. The group requested a celebration treat, which Sachin refused, prompting an argument that escalated into violence.
A case has been registered at the Shakarpur police station under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the BNS, and the three suspects were apprehended from the area on Tuesday. Police utilised CCTV footage to identify the alleged perpetrators, and a dagger believed to have been used in the murder was recovered.
