Saudi Arabia has launched an international alliance focused on establishing a Palestinian state and advancing the two-state solution, Anadolu Agency reported.
At a ministerial meeting on the Palestinian issue, Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan announced this initiative, urging other nations to join. He expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and condemned Israeli actions in the West Bank, describing them as part of a policy of occupation and extremism.
Speaking during the UN General Assembly, Faisal highlighted the risk of a broader regional conflict, particularly involving Lebanon, and called for an immediate cessation of violence and violations of international law.
He criticised the global system for its failure to stop the ongoing conflict, emphasising the need for international recognition of Palestine. He affirmed that the creation of an independent Palestinian state is essential for peace, not just a distant political goal.
He also commended nations that have recognised Palestine and called for others to follow suit, noting that 149 countries already support Palestinian statehood.
