Kuwait has voiced strong concerns over the escalating Israeli aggression against Lebanon, calling for a “serious political commitment” to reform the UN Security Council to prevent global instability.
Speaking at the 79th UN General Assembly, Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah condemned Israeli strikes, which have killed 677 and injured over 2,500 people in Lebanon since Monday, as reported by the Lebanese Health Ministry.
He criticised Israel’s violation of Lebanese sovereignty and attempts to draw Lebanon deeper into regional conflict, while urging the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a ceasefire and a demilitarised zone in southern Lebanon.
The crown prince also condemned Israel’s increased military actions in Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West Bank, affirming Kuwait’s unwavering support for an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
On Sudan, Sheikh Mishal called for an end to the fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), emphasising dialogue to restore security and stability. The ongoing conflict has killed over 20,000 people and displaced nearly 10 million, sparking fears of a humanitarian crisis.
