Amid controversy over the alleged use of adulterated ghee in laddu prasadam at Tirupati Venkateshwara temple, a devotee has claimed to have found a millipede in the Anna prasadam served at the temple. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board dismissed the accusation, calling it “false and unfounded.”
The devotee reported finding a millipede in curd rice during lunch and alleged that temple authorities responded dismissively when informed, The Week reported. However, the TTD refuted the claims, asserting it was a deliberate attempt to tarnish the temple’s reputation.
In a statement, TTD said that the prasadam is prepared for thousands of devotees and stated that it is unlikely a millipede could have gone unnoticed. They urged devotees not to be swayed by such allegations.
This comes after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stirred a separate controversy, accusing the previous regime of using ghee adulterated with animal fat in the temple’s laddus. The Supreme Court has ordered a Special Investigation Team, including CBI and state police officers, to investigate the matter. The probe is being overseen by the CBI director.
