Omar Abdullah wins Budgam seat, defeats PDP’s Aga Muntazir

Budgam: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has secured the seat in Budgam, with Omar Abdullah defeating People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Aga Syed Muntazir.

According to Election Commission data, Abdullah won with 36,010 votes, while Muntazir received 17,525 votes. In 2014, NC’s Aga Ruhullah won the Budgam seat by a margin of 2,787 votes.

Currently, the National Conference is leading in all four other seats in Budgam, sparking celebrations in the district.

Early vote counting trends show that Congress has surpassed the majority mark of 48 seats in Jammu and Kashmir, while the BJP has done the same in Haryana. In Haryana, Congress is leading in 34 seats and BJP in 49.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress-National Conference alliance is ahead of other parties in winning seats. Vote counting began at 8am with postal ballots, followed by EVM results half an hour later. These are initial trends, and the final outcomes may differ.
