Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has stated  that two foreign militants, likely infiltrators from the Bandipora area of north Kashmir, were responsible for the attack that killed seven people in Ganderbal district the previous day, PTI reported.

Officials reported that a doctor and six labourers were killed when militants targeted a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Ganderbal on Sunday evening. The attack occurred as the labourers and staff working on the tunnel project had returned to their camp.

Sinha noted that police and armed forces have been given clear instructions and full authority to track and eliminate the attackers.

“Initial investigations suggest that two masked persons, believed to be foreign militants, entered the mess hall of the company building the Z-morh tunnel and opened fire indiscriminately, killing seven people and injuring four,” Sinha said.

He added that the militants likely infiltrated from the Bandipora area and are actively being tracked, the news agency report said.
