Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday chaired a high-level security review meeting in Gangangeer, Ganderbal, directing police officials to ensure tight security for all vital infrastructure projects across Jammu and Kashmir.
The move follows the deadly militant attack on the Z-Morh tunnel, which claimed the lives of a doctor and six labourers on Sunday.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for a foolproof security mechanism, focusing on regular patrolling and strict access control at all important sites.
“The safety of workers and officers engaged in these projects is the top priority,” Sinha said, urging armed forces agencies to coordinate closely with project officials to prevent future breaches.
During the meeting with police, civil administration, and project officials, Sinha called for proactive counter-militancy operations to eliminate the militant threat. He reiterated that the attackers involved in the Gangangeer assault would be brought to justice.
“The recent attack will not go unanswered,” the LG wrote on X. Political and religious leaders have condemned the violence, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasizing heightened vigilance across critical projects.
