Srinagar: A Dehradun-based institution, the International Maritime Business Academy (IMBA), is introducing a specialised six-month course in maritime business management for the youth of Kashmir, aimed at providing career opportunities in the global commercial shipping industry.

With a strong placement record in multinational companies across locations like Dubai, Singapore, London, and South Africa, IMBA’s programme, now approachable in Parraypora Srinagar, offers an alternative for youth traditionally limited to fields. Aspirants can start with a six-month certification course and secure placements both in India and abroad.

According to the Srinagar-based head, Haroon Rashid, said that the course features lectures by seasoned industry professionals, global industry exposure, and industry accreditation, for participants to gain practical skills and a recognised qualification. The curriculum includes interactive modules and hands-on case studies curated by shipping experts, preparing graduates for real-world challenges and global networking.

“The programme is a gateway for Kashmir’s youth to break into the global commercial shipping industry,” Haroon said.

Graduates of the programme can expect career opportunities as shipping executives, port agents, ship brokers, freight analysts, and more, opening doors to a growing industry with international scope.
