At least 71 more Palestinians lost their lives in ongoing Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, bringing the total death toll since last year to 44,056, according to the Health Ministry in the enclave.

In a statement, the ministry reported that approximately 104,268 people have been injured in the continuing offensive.

“The Israeli occupation has carried out five family massacres in the past 24 hours, resulting in 71 fatalities and 176 injuries,” the ministry stated.

“Many remain trapped under rubble and on the streets, with rescue teams unable to reach them,” it added.

Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel has continued its large-scale assault on Gaza, which began after a Hamas attack last year.

Global acknowledgment of what many are calling genocide in Gaza has increased in the second year of the deadly conflict, as international organizations and leaders describe the events as a targeted effort to decimate a population.

Israel is now facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in Gaza.
