Kishtwar: The Kishtwar district police have seized the properties of seven militants operating from Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK) and Pakistan. This action is part of ongoing efforts to address militancy in the region, officials said.
The development stems from a case registered under FIR No. 272/2022 at Police Station Kishtwar. The case was filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 121-A (waging war against the state), along with sections 13, 18, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Following investigations and intelligence inputs, 36 militants from Kishtwar, now based in PaK, were declared absconders.
Of these, seven militants had their properties identified for seizure. Acting on the evidence, the Court in Doda issued orders under Section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) for the seizure of their properties. Subsequently, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar constituted teams of senior officers, accompanied by executive magistrates, to execute the court’s directives.
The seized properties belong to Shahnawaz Ahmed of Chirool Padyarna, Bashir Ahmed Mughal of Jugna Keshwan, Gazi-ud-Din of Jugna Balna Keshwan, Sattar Din of Jugna Keshwan, Imtiyaz Ahmed of Banderna Kishtwar, Muzaffer Ahmed of Semna Colony Zewar Kishtwar, and Javid Hussain Giri of Kundali Pochal.
Authorities have also identified properties belonging to 29 additional absconding militants. The process for seizing these properties is underway and will be completed soon, officials said.
