Poonch: A 27-year-old Army jawan, Krishna Kumar Yadav, died by suicide in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, on January 4, alleging harassment and blackmail by a woman and her accomplices, police said.

In his suicide note, Yadav, a resident of Amarsar village in Jaipur, recounted being drugged and filmed in a compromising position during a visit to Jeenmata in Rajasthan’s Sikar district two years ago, India Today reported.

The accused allegedly used the video to extort over ₹15 lakh from him.

Yadav cited his military service obligations as a reason for not filing a police complaint earlier. His family has refused to perform his last rites, demanding the arrest of those named in his note and alleging prolonged harassment led to his death.

Police have registered a case at Amarsar police station based on a complaint from Yadav’s family.

Senior officer Mukesh Chaudhary told India Today that Yadav’s body was sent to his village after an autopsy, and investigations are underway.
