GAZA: An Israeli airstrike targeting a residential house in the Gaza Strip claimed the lives of at least 11 Palestinians, according to health officials on Tuesday.

A poignant UNICEF photograph captured by Mohammad Ajjour depicts seven-year-old Amal gazing at her devastated neighbourhood, where nearby homes were reduced to rubble.

Earlier airstrikes in Gaza reportedly killed 18 individuals, including four children and two women—one of whom was pregnant, resulting in the loss of her unborn child. Local health officials provided the casualty details.

The latest escalation coincides with ongoing efforts to finalise a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas after 15 months of conflict. The proposed agreement also includes the release of dozens of hostages.

Two negotiators involved in the talks informed the Associated Press that Hamas has agreed to a draft ceasefire proposal, while an Israeli official confirmed progress but stated that details remain under discussion.

The war, which began on October 7, 2023 and health authorities in Gaza report that over 46,000 Palestinians have been killed since the conflict began, with women and children comprising more than half of the casualties. The Gaza Health Ministry, however, does not differentiate between civilians and fighters in its tally.
