Twelve more Maoists, including senior leader Chalapati, were killed in a firefight between security forces and left-wing extremists along the border of Odisha and Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, PTI reported quoting police sources.
The total number of Maoists killed in the ongoing operation rose to 14, following the earlier killing of two female rebels on Monday, a senior officer told the news agency.
The joint operation involved police from Odisha and Chhattisgarh along with CRPF forces. According to the Odisha Police statement, the latest casualties occurred during a late-night and early-morning exchange of fire with the SOG team in the Kularighat reserve forest in Chhattisgarh, near the Nuapada district border of Odisha.
