Srinagar: A viral video showing non-locals in Srinagar blatantly staring at and filming Kashmiri women without their consent has sparked widespread outrage on social media.
The clip, which reportedly includes footage of women captured from inside car, has drawn sharp criticism, with many demanding strict action against the perpetrators.
Social media users have condemned the act as a violation of privacy and dignity, calling on authorities to intervene.
Social media users argue that such behavior not only disrespects local culture but also raises concerns about the safety of women in public spaces.
Sharing the video on X, one user wrote, “Kashmir is not your safari & its people are not exhibits for your amusement. If you can’t act like a decent human being you don’t deserve to set foot here. Authorities must crack down on this disgraceful behavior with strict consequences and locals have every right to call out and resist this violation. Kashmir is a homeland not a spectacle & its people deserve respect, not to be treated like exhibits for your voyeuristic pleasure.”
Criticising the local authorities, another user wrote, “I guess we need to call it off as a society!! Authorities seem to be acting as spectators whether it comes to public intoxication or fantasising Kashmiri women. Civil society need to take proactive steps to stop this disgust.”
One user said, “Kashmir is a rich, vibrant homeland, not a tourist attraction for exploitation. Respect for its people, culture, and land is non-negotiable. Authorities must hold offenders accountable, and local voices must be heard and valued.”
