Rajouri: An army vehicle came under fire from suspected militants in a forward village near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Wednesday, reports said quoting officials.
The incident occurred around 1pm near a water tank in Phal village, a forested area along the Sunderbani-Malla road close to the LoC, Hindustan Times reported.
The report quoting officials said that two rounds were fired at a patrol vehicle belonging to the 9 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.
The attackers, believed to be hiding in the forest, targeted the passing army vehicle in an area known for infiltration attempts. Troops immediately returned fire, and reinforcements were dispatched to neutralise the threat.
A cordon and search operation has been launched in the area. No casualties have been reported so far, the report added.
