JK Budget: Free travel for women in Govt transport from April 1, says Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced that from April 1, women will be entitled to free travel in all government-operated transport, including e-buses. The announcement came as part of JK UT’s maiden Budget presentation.

The budget also includes provisions such as 200 units of free electricity for AAY families, the establishment of 98 water testing labs, increased marriage assistance for girls under AAY, and the development of a National Law University in JK.

On Friday,  Omar presented the first budget of Jammu and Kashmir in six years and said it is a roadmap for economic growth and a true reflection of people’s aspirations.
