Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes on Gaza, calling them “cold-blooded murder” in a statement shared on X on Wednesday.
She denounced the killing of over 400 civilians, including 130 children, stating it demonstrated Israel’s disregard for humanity.
According to hospital officials cited by the Associated Press, Tuesday’s airstrikes killed at least 413 Palestinians, including women and children. The Gaza health ministry reported more than 660 injuries, with many feared trapped beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings.
Gandhi further criticised Israel’s actions, calling them a sign of “inherent weakness” and accusing Western powers of complicity. She asserted that while some governments may ignore this, people worldwide—including many Israelis—recognise the reality. She added that Israel’s increasing aggression only exposed its cowardice.
Despite the ongoing devastation, Gandhi praised the Palestinian people for their resilience, highlighting their ability to endure immense suffering without breaking.
The strikes come amid rising tensions, threatening the ceasefire established in January. Initially, Hamas had released 33 Israeli and five Thai hostages in exchange for around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. However, negotiations for the remaining 59 Israeli hostages have stalled. While Hamas demands a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, Israel insists on extending the truce without meeting that condition.
As violence escalates, hopes for a peaceful resolution continue to fade.
