Srinagar: Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Monday asserted that the only way to silence his voice was by restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s autonomy and honouring the original terms of its accession to India.
In a strongly-worded statement on X, Mehdi said, “There’s only one way to silence me: restore Kashmir’s autonomy and honour the terms of accession to India. Threats won’t deter me.”
Reaffirming his commitment to speaking the truth, the Srinagar MP added, “I come from a tradition where truth is worth your neck. And I was taught to offer myself for haq (truth), not submit to falsehood. I will fight.”
Mehdi has been vocal on issues concerning Kashmir’s political identity and has repeatedly criticised the dilution of Article 370 and the erosion of democratic rights in the region.
