Police deployed mobile squads to curb street harassment in Srinagar; helplines established

Srinagar: Srinagar police have set up Women Helpdesks and a Mobile Safety Squad to ensure swift action against harassment and eve-teasing in public spaces.

“Srinagar police has instituted Women Helpdesks in police stations and a Mobile Women Safety Squad for the protection of girls and women in public spaces, with the aim to prevent and eliminate instances of harassment, eve-teasing and unsolicited comments in such public spaces,” reads a statement from police.

If any girl or woman faces any kind of harassment, eve-teasing, bullying or unsolicited comments in public spaces, they are encouraged to call or WhatsApp on the following numbers to seek assistance from Srinagar police for facilitation of prompt and effective real-time resolution of their grievances, it reads.

Srinagar police remains dedicated to serving the public with equity and efficiency, the statement added.
