SC to hear plea seeking judicial probe into Pahalgam attack
New Delhi: The Supreme Court is set to hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) today, May 1, seeking a judicial inquiry into the deadly Pahalgam attack that claimed the lives of 25 tourists and a local guide on April 22.
The case will be heard by a two-judge bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice N. Kotiswar Singh, as per the Supreme Court’s causelist. The PIL has been filed by three petitioners—Mohammad Junaid from Kashmir, and Fatesh Kumar Sahu and Vicky Kumar.
Listed as item number 25, the matter is expected to come up for hearing around 11:30am.
The petition urges the Supreme Court to set up a judicial commission to probe the April 22 attack in Pahalgam and to direct the Central government and the Jammu & Kashmir administration to ensure the safety of tourists in the region.
