India says it has targeted Pakistan’s air defence systems; radar site in Lahore ‘neutralised’
New Delhi: Indian armed forces on Thursday morning carried out targeted strikes on Pakistan’s air defence infrastructure at multiple locations, officials said in a statement. Among the targets hit was an air defence system in Lahore, which has reportedly been neutralised.
“Indian Armed Forces targeted Air Defence Radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan,” the official statement said, adding, “It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised.”
The operation comes amid heightened tensions following recent drone and missile exchanges between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. India has not officially commented beyond these briefings, and Pakistan is yet to issue a formal response to the latest developments.
This strike follows a series of cross-border military actions over the past week, including India’s earlier targeting of what it called “terror infrastructure” in Pakistan, in retaliation to the April 22 Kashmir attack that left 26 Indian tourists dead.
