Omar Abdullah visits Poonch hospital, meets shelling victims

Omar Abdullah visited Poonch areas and hospital days after intense cross border shelling.

Poonch: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited the district hospital in Poonch to meet civilians injured in the recent cross-border shelling. Expressing solidarity, he commended the victims for their resilience and assured them of full medical support.

“It was heartening to witness their courage and resilience. I assured them of the best possible medical care and full support from the administration,” Omar said.

Omar, who arrived in Poonch early in the morning, said his visit aimed to assess the situation on the ground following the shelling that claimed several lives and displaced many residents near the Line of Control (LoC).

He added that he would be meeting families who lost their loved ones to offer condolences and would also hold discussions with the district administration to review relief and rehabilitation efforts post-ceasefire.

“Ensuring the safety and well-being of our people remains our top priority,” he said.

Recent ceasefire violations along the LoC have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, prompting urgent relief measures from the government and local bodies.
