Baramulla: Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday said the government is open to reviewing the revised school timings introduced after the summer break, following improved weather conditions and feedback from parents.

Speaking to reporters during her visit to Baramulla, Itoo acknowledged the concerns over early school hours, stating that the decision to advance timings was made to protect students during an intense heatwave across Kashmir.

“We had one of the harshest heat spells in recent memory. The timing adjustment was purely a preventive measure to safeguard children’s health,” she said, adding that the government had been closely monitoring the situation.

Thanking the Almighty for the rainfall and temperature drop, she said, “We had all been praying for relief, and thankfully the weather has improved.”

The minister stressed upon students’ comfort and academic continuity remain the top priority. “Our intention was to avoid disruption in the academic session. Now that the weather has improved, and based on parental feedback, we are open to reconsidering the schedule,” she said.

She assured that any future changes would be made with a balanced approach, keeping both student welfare and educational needs in mind.
