Terrorists bomb major gas pipeline in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; 4th attack in 3 months
Terrorists have bombed a major gas pipeline in northwestern Pakistan, disrupting the gas supply to Punjab, the country’s most populous province, according to police.
The blast occurred in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a region that has seen several similar incidents in recent months. Police spokesperson Amir Khan stated on Wednesday that explosives were planted on the pipeline, resulting in the suspension of gas supply to the Mianwali area of Punjab.
This marks the fourth such attack at the same site in under three months.
No group has yet claimed responsibility, but security forces suspect the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has a long history of targeting government infrastructure and security personnel.
Following the blast, security forces launched a search operation in the area to track down those behind the attack.
Lakki Marwat has been a persistent hotspot for militant activity, with numerous TTP-led assaults on police and security forces reported in recent years.
