Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha hoisted the national flag of India at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar on the occasion of the country’s 79th Independence Day and extended his greetings to all.

He paid tribute to freedom fighters, armed forces, and citizens who lost their lives in the recent Kishtwar cloudburst.

“On this Independence Day, let us pledge that no individual or village is left behind in our journey of peace and progress. Watching the tricolour fly high, we look ahead with pride, confidence, and hope for a brighter future for Jammu and Kashmir,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

In a post on X, he added: “I join every citizen in honoring our freedom fighters, whose love for the Motherland secured our freedom. I also pay homage to civilians killed in the Pahalgam terror attack and thank our armed forces, security and intelligence agencies, and J&K Police for their bravery in ‘Operation Sindoor’ and ‘Operation Mahadev.’

“My heart goes out to families affected by the Chashoti cloudburst. Relief operations are ongoing. It is our duty to eliminate every terrorist from our sacred land. With the combined efforts of armed forces, CAPFs, police, and society, Jammu and Kashmir can be made terror-free.

“We must work with a single aim: to make Jammu and Kashmir strong, self-reliant, and prosperous. Let us rededicate ourselves to improving life for farmers, youth, and women and empowering all sections of society.”
