Srinagar: The water level in River Jhelum and its tributaries is flowing below the danger mark despite intermittent rains in parts of the Valley, the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department said on Wednesday evening.
According to the department’s 5pm gauge reading, the Jhelum was recorded at 26.94 ft at Sangam, against the danger level of 25 ft. At Pampore, the river stood at 5.99 m, above the alarm mark of 5.0 m. At Munshi Bagh, it was flowing at 20.06 ft, while at Asham the level was 10.06 ft—both below danger marks. The level of Wullar Lake was measured at 1576.54 m.
Among the tributaries, Vishow Nallah at Khudwani was flowing at 10.95 m, well above its danger mark of 8.5 m. Rambiyara Nallah at Wachi was at 5.00 m, Lidder Nallah at Batkoot at 1.46 m, and Sindh Nallah at Doderhama at 3.78 m.
The I&FC said it is closely monitoring the situation.
