Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the government has approved the construction of two Unity Malls, one each in Srinagar and Jammu, at a cumulative cost of ₹255 crore.

He said the malls will provide a dedicated platform for local artisans, handloom and handicraft products, GI-tagged goods and regional entrepreneurs, while creating vibrant commercial spaces to promote tourism, trade and employment across Jammu and Kashmir.

Omar said the projects are aimed at strengthening the local economy by showcasing the region’s traditional crafts and indigenous products under one roof, while offering improved market access to artisans and small businesses.
